hello, I have been told the engine I have is a dippy model E. I have since been told by a chap that it is not a dippy motor, or that it is a very early dippy. The tag is in the correct orientation, however has been polished to the point it is unreadable, does anyone know a trick to make it readable again, thanks fro putting your thinking caps on and any help, is appreciated, thanks |

You can mask the cylinder around the tag and then apply a light coat of black spray paint to the whole tag.
Let it dry thoroughly.
Once it is dry, get a flat piece of wood and glue very fine sandpaper to it, so you'll have a flat mildly abrasive surface.
Then you carefully sand the surface of the tag. You want to remove the paint from the high spots, but leave the background black.
This should reveal the info on the tag.
A light hand and patience is a key ingredient.

You can also rub Brasso into a smooth flat piece of wood and then rub the tag. Less abrasive. Pictures of the engine and shape of the tag would help identify it. |

You should be able to see the name of the company around the bottom half edge of the tag, if it is a DisPro engine.
