Hi, new guy here.
After what seems a lifetime of the big stuff Im getting interested in the smaller single cylinder marine engines. Not too far away is an older St Lawrence single that seems reasonably complete except for the carburetor and manifold. Dont know if its old enough to have a two piece manifold. My question is, are manifolds like hens teeth to find?
Thanks!
Don

Hi donbatals.

Welcome aboard. Others are more qualified than I to answer your question, but I doubt manifold will be a huge problem.

Knowing the serial number of your engine will help date it. That might make things easier.

No doubt your engine had a Scehebler Model D carburetor. These are still to be had, but finding one in good condition might take some time. People that have decent ones generally don't like to part with them. That drives price.

Good luck with your endeavour.

Cheers!

A picture of the nameplate or the serial # would probably identify the manifold type. Bruce

If necessary, as last resort, a manifold could be made by either casting then machining, or a welded option... I have a Palmer YT-1 and was concerned about erosion in the cylinder head water jackets so I started making a new 2-piece cylinder head from steel. It's 90% done, but a NOS one became available so I have not finished it. But things like that can be done.
