At our farm show and pull today a guy showed up with a dispro.Lots of brass and about a 10 or 12 inch flywheel.Had compression but was missing the greasers and the entire electrical system. The main bearings where alittle loose and the whole thing needed a cleaning. The guy had a price of $300 on it.I thought that was too much and told him to take it to the calvert show. Was I wrong on the price?

You made the right call. The missing electrics are not an issue. However the loose mains are.

It depends - if you have a DisPro hull and device and are looking for an engine - might not have been a bad deal - but by that time you've probably spent a lot of cash already. Having the correct engine is always a good thing.
Loose mains probably also measn that the crankshaft is undersize and has to be built up.

A couple of guys have tried flame spraying but after a year or two of use the shafts fracture in a cone shape. Plating seems to do the trick. There is a crankshaft guy here who can plate up about 80 thou.

If you polished up all that brass and copper it would have made a pretty display engine, evan if you did not make it run.

I looked at it very close and both places for the grease fittings were stripped out. I was on my way back from picking up 2 PW-27"s from Long Island NY and a M-60 from Annapolis. I went by the show to see what it was like. Had planned to connect MR.Day to about a part for one of my YT-1"s but did not after finding aout his surgery. Left about 10 am and arrive home in Fla at 9 pm.

I saw the trusscott on the truck but the only ones I talked to were at the gate. I was only there for about 30 min. That was Sat morning and I left about 10 AM.
Mr. Day, I will bring the engine with me next time but will contact you ahead of time to get directions and to make sure I will be able to see you. I need a flywheel for it but it is completely stripped down and might not be a YT-1 as it looks a little different from the other 2 YT-1"s that I have. It is close. The only place it has palmer is on the rocker arms. The tag is missing. I have your Email address so will contact you before coming up that way.
