During the period 1900-1909, which would be the right era for this type of boat, there were 50 or so full time builders in east Ontario alone and thousands in the US. In this era there was no such thing as a boat trailer (shipping was by rail or horse and cart)so the builder was probably within 20 miles of where this photo was taken. There was almost always a boat builder near any populated lake. It might even be a do it youself kit boat project, as there were many such companies offering this product.

Best I can help without more info.

What a lovely boat. I'd love to hear if anyone knows what it might be too as I am looking for plans for a boat with similar lines/construction

This picture was taken at a lake in New Brunswick Canada called Skiff Lake. I am told that the original owner was from Maine. Possibly a London from Houlton ME which is only a few miles away.. They in turn sold it to the Leech family who had the boat until age caught up with it some years ago when they took the motor out and burned the remainder on the ice. I am the second person to have to motor since the boat has been gone. People who remember the boat tell me it had a big brass rail all around it. The rail does not show in this picture. I have the prop that went with it and Mr. Leech thinks he knows where the shaft is. We are going to have a look when the ice goes out and we can get to the island where he thinks it is. That's about all the background I have been able to get so far..
