I am currently thinking about buying a boat with a K4 engine.
Problerm is the core plugs have blown due to silt being drawn up through the water feed to the pump.
Does anyone know if any other damage may have been done?
What would be the best action to take regarding the silt in the engine

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I would be very careful - if the engine has been operating in salt water (probable) and if it has been inactive, there is the possibility of rust wedging and eventual cracking of heads, barrels, exhaust manifold plus the muffler might be wasted. You need to pop off a core plug and see if the spaces inside are clear. A lovely old motor, but we had to replace locate new J2 heads and barrels for ours and we made a pattern and casting for the exhaust manifold, exhaust bend and muffler ourselves. I do not know if castings for the K series are available...
