so I got the manifold clear in md2b. now I replaced the head gasket but there's a hissing when I turn the flywheel.
does a new head gasket require since breaking in before making a good seal? |

Preferred to machine the head in this case and then fit a thicker head gasket to bring the combustion space volume to original spec. Say 10/1000" off if you can get a stock head gasket 10/1000" thicker. What is the cylinder deck like?
Old trick - Get an ancient tin of Silverfrost and decant the thin liquid on top. Use the thick residue as a head gasket sealant ensuring no sliding of mating surfaces during assembly (use dowells). Bolt and torque down gradually when "dry". (Put the thin Silverfrost back when finished.)
No guarantees as a machine shop is what is really needed. |
