I need some ideas on a problem we have with our no1 p55, one of the studs which hold the exhaust outlet down has pulled out of its thread in the expansion chamber taking away quite alot of old iron with it.
I tried to fix the problem by putting in a 3/8th helicoil into the expansion chamber, and then a 5/16th helicoil on to the stud and then ever so gently tightened the nut on top but it does not feel very tight down.
I will try and start her up this weekend but i have no doubt that under heat and pressure it will fail.
Has anyone ideas on how to permanently fix this problem.
Regards Matt and Ron.

Mathew ,without seeing your problem my solution would be to drill out the damaged stud hole ,tap to 1/2 UNF and have made or do it your self a steped stud ,ie 1/2 UNF .Screw it into the head until it is flush ,use some Loctite when you do this .
