I have a old Snow Nabstedt 3745/2045 marine transmission reduction gear and need to know what the proper oil to be used in this application. vintage 1952

Generally speaking, a post-WW 2 marine transmission were designed to run with engine weight oil - SAE 30 or SAE40. Single weight is preferred.
