Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience or ideas on how I could convert my twin to an electric start. I am also interested on information regarding suitable forward/reverse gearboxes that can be used with the engine. Would appreciate any helpful information.

Thanks

Hi Raysm,
Blaxland made an electric start and gear box for the twin. Duck flat also make a universal electric start. Aub Rose in Sydney would be the person to call re: Blaxland stuff

Hi Kevin,

Sorry, I should have signed off my post, the name is Ray. Thanks for the information. The old girl needs a bit of TLC and I thought that it would be a good time to look at making life a little easier by making her an electric start. I am planning to do the boat and motor up in readiness for the Wooden Boat Festival here in Hobart early next year.

Thanks again for the advice

Ray

Hi David,

Kevin may have an answer for you. He is having trouble with his computer, but maybe send him an email. There were two twins for sale at Duck Flat in South Australia. www.duckflatwoodenboats.com/index
I have just checked and they have both sold, but they may be able to give you some direction. Kevin has referred to Aub Rose in Sydney. I think he manufactures parts - may also be a good place to check. Ask Kevin (this discussion board)

David,
I don't know about Aub Rose - He was an old man when I met him about 30 years ago, but you CAN contact Blaxland Chapman Marine on 02 65583182. I spoke to them a couple of months ago. They build new engines, and supply reconditioned and "reconstituted" engines in which only non-wearing parts are reused

Allan
