this is a marine engine we found but, don't know what it is.

The pedestal base is very early 1900s or 1890s. Can you post some better photos? How and where was the engine found?

It's one of the Detroit Auto Marine Family. There were several names used on these and they are fairly common.

If that is a bronze cap mounted on the cylinder head it bears a resemlance to the bronze induction pre-heat cap on my old Sintz ???
