I've recently purchase a number of Nautical peices include and 19th century binnacle. The binnacle has been modified a few times durind the ships live and one of the modification was the addition of 2 large part I believe are part of the ships ignition. One on each side for the port and starboard engine I assume.

They are marked as follow:
Edison Splifdorf Corp
West Orange, N.J. USA
Pattern No 877

Does any one have any idea what they actually are?
