Looking for a 5hp atlantic in Nova Scotia to replace my worn out one.

After 5 minutes of running time it blows smoke. Oil in bottom end looks milky. I assume it getting water in through the cylinder. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Tear it down and replace the rings and see if that restores the compression. How old is the engine?

It's in my friends boat. Very old... probably fifties or late forties. Up till this year it ran flawlessly from year to year. In fact it starts every time now without problems. He noticed it smoking this spring. I will let him know and get him to post on here as well.

Many thanks.

Lloyd
PS: the boat is a bush island style boat fiber-glassed over. He saved the hull and rebuilt it many year ago. He rigged it for sail last year.

Check the divider in water cooled exhaust manifold between exhaust & water sides ... probably wasted through .... easier to eplacing gine. Have a friend that has same problem on a 4 hp Atlantic
