My parents bought a 1967 Evinrude 6HP Fisherman and it was delivered in the spring of 1968. I recall the marina guy saying it needed a break in time of two hours at "start" speed and no higher. This was a 8 year old's memory and 44 years ago, so I would suggest you try aomci.org for the correct run in time. The magnets should be ok on your engine but the coils will almost certainly be shot-The coils at the time had a sort of yellow soft plastic coating that dries out and cracks over time. You can get new ones -they are all standard at the local marina or OMC boat dealer. Good luck. The old engines are neat but can be thirsty.
