I came across the attached photograph at an auction. I find several things interesting about this photo and I am on a sort of quest to learn more. I like the tools laid out, the Gargoyle oil can, hand on the rudder control, American flag flying, battery box, hat sitting next to driver, and long pole for something. With magnifying glass, the engine looks like a word then SPECIAL. The first word looks like I or J then CARD or something close to that. Any help would be appreciated.

That's it! Thanks. So far in my research, the person that I think is driving lived from 1871 to 1944. Does that seem reasonable judging from the age of the boat, engine, articles in the boat, and approximate age of the driver?
