But in actual fact, they were built in Greenwich, CT at the Mertz Bros. factory on Water St., ca. 1908. My findings show they built a 25hp and aparently another of a larger hp rating.

This information is taken from the writings of A.E. Luders Sr. ca. 1954.

It has taken me a while to get back to our earlier conversation about them.

I have a mint Mianus Engine catalog which is not for sale at this time but I could copy for costs. My dad worked there as a draftsman after graduating from trade school in Stamford in 1923 + -.

On the Jensick Engines, I found that the only thing I could really say was that they were built in the East Port Chester section of Greenwich, CT in 1908 and the firm apparently didn't last mush later than that. They seem to have been owned by the Mertz Bros. firm of that town. The location of the factory was refereed to as East Port Chester cause it was just across the Byram River from the Borough of Port Chester, NY, but was actually in the Town of Greenwich, They were used in boats.

I am aware that about 6-8 years ago there was a catalog or folder offered by a paper merchant who wanted $ 90.00 for it and I was too poor at the time to spend that much for old paper.

I am the self-ordained historian for the Luders Marine Construction co. which got its start in 1908, when it rented space at the Mertz Co. factory in East Port Chester (that's how the name Jensick was saved, because AE Luders Sr. recorded it) and would be pleased to hear from anyone knowledgeable of any Luders boats, owners, or folks who worked there. .

That's about all I can offer unless you can think of anything else I might offer.

Cheers,

Bob Wallstrom

Bob
Jencick Marine engines were top of the line in their day, used in high end yachts and racing.
I just recently did a bit of research on this mfgr and have several excellent photo ads that i will post in a few days.
A photo in my files shows a Jencick with a cast bronze crankcase!

My notes say that Jencick bought F.A.Seitz Co. in 1912 and that Seitz had taken over Mohler & DeGress marine eng mfgr in 1905. I don't know how this buyout affected Jencick !
