Hi, I have a 31 year old Watermota (its a Marine conversion of a Ford Escort) which is salt water cooled. All these years, the salt water has been run through a tube, which contains (I was told) Sudbury crystals.
These crystals seem to leave a greasy black film in the salt water which stops the engine block rusting. However, over the years this black gunge has built up on the block and has started to block the cooling passages.
Can anyone tell me of a chemical to remove this gunge? Ideally, I'd like to mix up a chemical solution and pump it through the block for as long as it takes to dissolve the build up.
Hoping someone has dealt with this issue and knows what to do.
cheers
John
