Coincidently, JB put me on to this idea about a month ago to crank the FERRO triple. Plan is to use 12V solinoids, check valves, (thanks ebay) parts are in hand, we should be cranking shortly. Plan is to use existing timer to operate each of the solinoids. I don't plan to inject fuel. I hope it winds her up, then drop out air to two cyls that should get fuel through carb. www.valves4projects.com

On the two cycle it should charge the cylinder even though you are cranking with air. The piston rising will take a charge in the crankcase, the pressurized cylinder will go down to exhaust the air, the cylinder will then charge. If the air is injected after top center and the cylinder is firing at top center it should fire off, if it fires the presssure should be greater than the air start so nothing will happen there. The Ferro seemed to flood easy, the air should purge the cylinder each stroke. That's my theory, we'll see what really happens.

J.B.
I am sure you will get it to work. I am interested, in that I want to put a 4 cylinder B24 Waterman engine in a 1912 era Long Deck Launch. I was trying to figure out how to start the engine, in that the engine will be under hatch doors. I was considering the Syracuse Gear with the crank, but would still need to prime the engine. Adding a ring gear with an early style starter is an other option. This is a third. Keep us posted.

Question.
How does the Crisco device select the next two firing cylinders per the article above? I can only assume if the valves on a 4cycle are open or if the piston is down on a 2 cycle, the injected fuel will just pass thru to the crankcase or intake/exhaust.
