How about a new name this engine:

This is currently for sale in the Mecum Indy - Jim Street collection. Listed as an early T-head and who knows if the parts missing from the pic are there. Obviously not a T-head.

What is it????

Let me know if you know.

Cheers,

Lew "The West Coast Sterling Guy"

The aluminum crankcase ad the individual cylinders sort of, hint at a Van Blerck. Some Van Blercks had a Tee head, but others were L heads.
But some pictures of the other side might help - dunno if you can get those.

Thanks Miro,

I have been leaning toward Van Blerck as well but so far have not found any reference.

It looks like Joe's style but most were T-head. I wish there were more pics on the Mecum site. We do not know if the parts missing in this pic are there or not.

Cheers,

Lew

Looks very much like a work in progress so presumably the engine was complete when that began or they probably wouldn't have bothered?

upcoming Mecum Indianapolis auction engine listings have been much expanded and updated. The "T-head" with parts missing is now described as a Scripps engine

Lou,
They posted another photo with the covers that say "Scripps" on them. Got my bidders package today. Over 1" thick but all cars and boats. Nothing on the motors.
