Hello again, here are some more fact about the Gray Phantom Eight engine:
Bore, 3 5/8
Stroke, 4 1/2
372 cu in
Weight, 1250 lbs
175 hp/3600 rpm
Dual updraft Zenith/Stromberg
Nickel-chrome-iron engine block
Length, 56 with gear, 40 5/8 without
Hight, 28
Crankshaft diam, 2 5/8
5 main bearings

In the ad for the motor they make a big number of "individual porting" - "a new kind of straight eight power"

The question is still - Does anyone know of these straight eight engines origin? Car, bus, or other purpouses? If so, of what make? Or is it actually made for marine use? Year of manufacture - circa 1938.
