Posted first in the wrong place ! This time, I have bought this little RM 3 engine on spec,it turns, has compression and some spark . It is also missing a few important bits . I really want to see if the parts are available second hand before I spend more time etc
It has what looks like half a centrifical clutch,ie a hollowed out half coupling with 4 dowels in it
Also missing any starting shaft and top sprocket
I would like to use the engine in a 13 foot flat bottom boat designed by William Aitken in the 1930 s for small inboard motors .I would be very greatful for any advice on this and could perhaps reciprocate with old Boat Info ,$$ etc ther appears to be little over here on the smaller stuart motors

Hello Steve,

As you may know, Fairways Marine (previously the only stockists of ST spares) have gone into administration. I have several R3MCs in bits at the moment and could probably find a spare clutch assembly. I'm not so confident about the top sproket but I'll have a rummage.

I keep my engines on my Uncle's farm so I won't be able to tell you what bits I've got for certain until this weekend at the earliest. I think I've got a copy of a manual for the R3MC which I'm happy to photocopy for you if you're happy to pay postage and packing. Send me an e-mail to [email protected] and we can discuss prices for the bits you need.

Cheers

Jon
