We fired up the p55 in the RubyToo at about ten pm at the Stgeorge Motor Boat Club and set of for a trip to the Cooks River Motor Boat Club which is about and hour and a half motoring along Botany Bay.
Nice weather made the trip into the wind and tide a enjoyable cruise, we had morning tea in a nice little waterway called Muddy Creek and then proceeded to the Cooks river for lunch.
The trip home was another story, we ventured out into Botany Bay with the tide turning against us and a thirty knot south easterly as well to catch us on the port beam.
I have never been so wet besides jumping in a pool or the sea, spray was hitting us at head high every wave, the engine box was copping a hammering from the sea water but still the Stuart kept going.
Several times the RubyToo came to a complete stop after hitting a wave but the p55 soon built up revs again and continued to push us home, my dad who is a old eighteen footer skipper was in his element telling his imaginary main sheet hand to let her in, or let her out.
Finally after about two hours we reached a point where we could turn and catch the wind on the stern and make our way back to the ramp.
We had had a great day on the water, thanks to our Stuart turner P55 getting us to our destination and getting us home.
Matt and Ron.
Ps what do other Stuart owners use for gasket material on the expansion cover plate and on the exhaust outlet we are putting our P55MRE back together after yet again finding water coming from the chamber and as well from the crankcase drains.

Hi Matt,

I use .5-.8 mm oil jointing from Repco.
It comes in sheets about 300 mm square.
Have not had any problems at all.
I also use the same on my 3 hp Hall.
I found original Stuart gaskets very thin. OK for new machined surfaces but with corroded/worn surfaces the .5 mm on the cylinder base and the .8 mm for all other joints works well.

Sounded like a great day out. The lake here has been beautiful up till midday and then the Nor-Easter kicks in and she gets up a bit. The Sou-Easter of the last 2 days has been a bit heavy too.

MC & HNY to you and yours.

Regards

Dave.
