I am considering restoring a Buffalo Gasoline motor Co 8RA engine and am looking for any info I can find on the line of engines or the buffalo Co. The engine greatly resembles the one on your February 1924 cruiser type advertisement posted on this site under http://www.oldmarineengine.com/history/Buffalo/Buffalo%201924%20AD.html The logo on the name plate and flywheel engine casting is the same as the buffalo Logo on the top of the 1924 advertisement. The unit is quite large over 5 ft high and 6ft long. It is a 8 cylinder, in line with both magneto and ignition coil systems(twin spark plugs). It burns gasoline. It has twin carburetors that are tied back to a internal governor. It has forced liquid cooling from a pump driven from a power take off shaft. but no radiator or plumbing. It is described as a type 8RA number 132 1200rpm 5 7/8 boar 7 stroke. It is direct drive mated with a open frame electrical generator made by Electric Machine co My best guess from the 150KW generator puts it around 200HP I cannot figure out its manufacture date. The only thing I can base its age on is a name plate where it was apparently sold or serviced by O'Brien Machine Co on 1949... Don't know if it was new at that point, overhauled, or was refitted as a generator and resold. Any info that could help date this engine or assist in its restoration would be greatly appriceated.

I work at a museum and we have a Buffalo engine in with the other engine collection. It has what appears to be a pump on one end, and a shaft coufler at the other. It is quite large and has the Serial #297.
Would appreciate any info.
