I have recently come across 4 Buda 6DTMR317 engines that are still in their original crates. They have never been used. I am just trying to gather as much information as I can, so any information is good information. If anyone knows who I could get in touch with to find out what these are worth and if there is anybody who would be interested in having these.

I had one a few years back that had less than 100 hours on it and I finally donated it to a museum as it appeared to have no actual cash value.

I am looking for a 1917 Buda 3 3/4 X 5 1/8 blind head, for a car. Some were used in firetrucks; WU?
(Sorry to highjack the thread)

ATTN: William Campion. William, i do have photos and serial numbers. the files seem to be too large to send through this site but if you want i can email them directly to you. I see you are from chicago?? the motors are within an hour or so of you, in wisconsin, if you have any interest in looking at them. they are located in elkhorn, which is just past lake geneva, across the border. i will definetly send you pictures though. thanks brad. Sorry about this late post; haven't been in site lately.
BRAD: If your contact with WC doesn't work out, or if he doesn't take them all, try posting on the const eqpmt/heavy eqpmt sites like hcea etc; people looking for 6DT317's or parts may be interested (I understand the "M" is marine, but I don't know what the "R" means; blown?? reverse gear trans?? It'd be a shame to scrap them.
JOHN: Didn't think Buda got into cars, but one catalog shows them in Apperson and National (didn't look further).
Assuming you're looking for WU, did you know there was also a WTU of same b/s?? Have no idea of difference, but head might be the same.
Buda built a number of these: CU/CTU, HU/HTU, etc, generally same b/s; to date been unable to get definitive answer as to difference (not necessarily "T=truck" as Apperson 4-45 shows with both YU and YTU). I assume you've checked with Buda in shreveport and Jim Paulsen in Olympia (emailed both re' the "T" question but got no replies).

Hey Guys, I picked up the Buda engines from the Vanderveens on tuesday. Mr V is quite a down-to-earth kinda guy and hope to keep in touch with him. He's what they used to call a real gentleman who is a man of his word.
