I have recently purchased a Master Pup & getting it ready for a test run before I install it in my putt putt. Can anyone please advise what is the best packing material (Teflon etc) for both the water pump gland & prop shaft glands.& where I could get it. I am in Sydney (Ryde)

Whitworths have 1/4" greasy hemp stern gland packing - I will be using this on mine. Not expensive either at $19.95 advertised.

Go to blackwoods.com.au .look up gland packings. all types all sizes .dont use graphite packing around stainless steel etc , electrolysis eats your shaft away. I prefer the teflon based packing (semi self lubricating ,and less drag on the shaft/ water pump piston). They list all the heat ratings ,shaft speeds, etc.
Also list brand names so you might be able to google a local agent for that brand.

You could try McMaster-Carr in the US.

Just go to the local hardware store and get a bunch of Teflon string valve packing.
I use the small size which is about 1/8 in and just keep wrapping it around the pump plunger till I have a good diameter.
If you want Teflon string/packing in larger sizes Grainger has it. www.grainger.com
Hope this helps
