Just brought a boat with an evinrude 40 horse and have looked all over it and cant find a model number
the cover has lark VIII and selectric shift writen on it
also a bloke gave me a leg that was off an old 40 horse he had but its much smaller then my leg

There should be a plate on it somewhere with a model number, but if not, take a look at http://www.old-omc.de/index2.html

You can search year by year and possibly find your motor. If not, at least you can have fun looking.

Going by the pictures in the old catalogs i think it might be a 65 model ....since posting i actually brought a 1980 model 35 horse so dont need the old 40 horse ....wonder what it would be worth ....its in really good condition for a motor that old

can some one help me find out the years of these motors and are they good motors or do they have problems? 60 hp johnson modl #J60elcia, the serial #is J5466175
next is a 6hp johnson modl#6r-72d, the serial #is J3556767... thanks for the help

whats going on guys can some one help me find out the year of my motor. its a evinrude and the cover has lark VIII and selectric shift writen on it.the name plate gives the serial# to BE
E01635 and the modle# is 40562A and allk so want
