Hello.
My name is Egon and i live in the Nethelands.
I am collecting vintage gas engines and i have recently bought a Ferro type O 4hp marine engine.
Engine is in good condition with a lot compression.
I want to restore this engine.
i have a few questions about this engine for instance.What is the direction of rotation and how much oil should i pour in the carter of this 2 cycle engine.
I am searching for a manual to download,mabye someone can help me?

The oiling system on these engines works from crankcase pressure, there's a reservoir built into the base, filled from the long brass spout. When running the pressure builds in the reservoir, forcing oil up to the sight glass-manifold where it can be metered for the different bearings and piston. It takes a while for oil to start moving. I would mix oil and gas for immediate lubrication, use the oiler for additional lube. Ferro's were designed to run in one direction because of the offset cylinder, but I'm not sure which way, you should be able to figure it out by the timer, it should be able to retard a little and advance plenty in the correct rotation. |

Hello. Thanks for the info.
I am going to mix gasoline with fullsynthetic 2 cycle oil and also the same oil in the resevoir.
I can rotate the timer a full rotation so i can not see the rotation direction of the engine.
I am searching for a manual to download but no succes. |
