Richard, This reminds me of a story I heard years ago of two fisheries officers who were falling behind in their chase of an illegal fishing boat in NSW. The officer's boat was small and underpowered. One officer suggested that he should jump out (with his life jacket) and hold onto a channel marker so the other could catch the culprit. The other refused the suggestion and it's probably a good thing that awards for services above the call of duty are not based on such actions. Regards Laurie.
