I am trying to get the paint off of a mid 60s all white merc. would like to try a liquid paint stripper but the instructions say don't use on anodized aluminum. does anybody know if these units were anodized?

Anodizing is a plated finish used instead of paint, you usually see it on tags and such, like the name plate on a plaque.
