An imagination tickler!
Here in Canberra, the capital of Australia, we have a magnificent man-made lake named Lake Burley Griffin in honour of the American designer of our fair city. In the lake is a spectacular fountain that shoots a jet of water about 200 feet straight up in the air -except on windy days when it provides a free car wash to cars crossing the lake on our main highway.
Well, a few days ago, the lake had to be closed to all aquatic activities. It seems that contractors doing some earthworks on the shore, shattered a main sewer pipe, allowing a huge quantity of untreated (yes, untreated) sewerage to flow into the lake, thus causing massive pollution.
It was also necessary to turn off the fountain. I wonder why? Any suggestions?

Canberra may have world's most powerful privy aerator!

A few years ago a retiring, rich publisher donated
such a fountain to Louisville (say Looy-ville) as a parting memorial. It produced a tower of water in three jets, as in a French tri-foil. In addition there were lights of variable color for night illumination. Quiet spectaculor!

The fountain cost over $3 million and was towed out to the mid-Ohio River station for summer use but hauled in for winter storage when the river would be full of debris heading for the Gulf of Mexico via the Mississippi.

Unfortunately, annual operating expenses and the high cost of maintenance caused the fountian to be put in storge a decade ago with no prospects of it ever returning to use.

Made in Switzerland, I imagine Canberra could buy a "stand-by" fountain for a song!
Nice Report.
