I have a Martin 100 outboard engine that dates back to the late 40's or early 50's. Does anyone know where I might find out what it's worth? I have the serial number if that helps at all. Thanks~

Theresa;

I bought my Martin 100 about 20 years ago for $150 US. They are worth a great deal more now. However, like collector coins, the issue is condition, condition, and condition. Are all the parts on it. will it run, well or just pop. Is there any compression- it should have as much pull resistance as a modern 9.9 hp. The propellor shouldn't wiggle, if it does the shaft is worn. 100's were made from 1948-1953. The style never changed although some had a neutral device. Ebay may or may not work. You could try to list it on aomci.org, which is the antique outboard club web site.
