Hi Larry

I don't know anything about Brown Engineering. However if the address of the operation is 2 Carlaw Ave. Toronto it could be the successor to the Schofield Holden company, which was at the Carlaw Ave location from 1905-???. Schofield Holden was a builder of marine engines.
Regards Steve

Hi, my grandfather left a model of a steam engine, a patent model, he probably made about 1890 while working for Browns in Clydebank area Scotland. Does anyone know anything about such models.. size 14 inches. Does it deserve to be in a museum?

Gloria, that depends very much on the quality of the machining in the model, the amount of detail and the accuracy of reproduction and the type of engine. If you can post some photos, or ask someone to do so, you will learn a lot more. If you are in the UK, contact one of the many museums, starting with the Science Museum in London or the National Maritime Museum at Greenwich. You could also put it up on eBay with a large reserve and see what happens!
