Hi All,

Invincible Motors were an Australian Manufacturer whom made engines from 3HP to 300HP or so. They were in operation from 1908 to the lates 50's, although they sold very few marine engines after the second world war.

Their main operation was in Sydney Australia although they had operations in Adelaide(Australia), Chicago (US), San Franciso (US) and possibly New York (US).

The company was "spun off" from the Morts Dock operation in Sydney in 1908 and was run by Konrad Francis Boehm (Morts Dock Senior Engine Draughtsman) from this time.

Konrad Boehm was an Austrian immigrant. The link to the US was two fold. Firstly Francis Boehm had relatives in the US being an Auntie and her children, secondly the castings for many of the engines, up until 1929, came from the US. After this date the castings were made locally.

They made large numbers of engines up until the second world war. After the war it seems they were more involved in automotive parts and generator sets.

They were marketed very well with postage covers detailing their entire engine range as well s issuing detailed and very well illustrated colour catalogues several times per year.

Regards

Mark S.

I have a Fairfield engine made in Fairfield Iowa which was sold (rebadged) in Australia under the Invincible name also. Apparently the load of Fairfield engines was reported lost to Lloyds of London; who paid out and then the Fairfields showed upunder the Invincible name. They resemble a Cushman binder engine but have both valves cam driven. Kinda marine'y lookin' but not quite.
