Here is some interesting info from the Monroe Co Clerks office website.

Brownell-Trebert Company CORP NAME 1900
Harvey Marine Motor Co BUSN Name 1921
Genesee launch & Power Co CORP NAME 1903
Otis Machine Works BUSN NAME 1909
Leary Gasoline Engine Co BUSN NAME 1911
Rochester Motorts Corp CORP NAME 1927
Elbridge Engine Co CORP NAME 1900
Elbridge Engine Co BUSN NAME 1916
Elbridge Engine Co BUSN NAME 1911
Eckhard motor Co CORO NAME 1900
Wile Power Gas Company BUSN 1904
Trebert Airplane Motor Co CORP NAME 1928
Trebert Auto and Marine motor CORP NAME 1928
Trebert Gas Engine Co CORP NAME 1928
Hazard M Manufacturing CORP NAME 1894
Hazard Engineering Co BUSN NNAME 1909

I guess CORP NAME inplies incorporation, and BUSN NAME implies a dba. I will verify that, as well as dates when I visit the clerks office.

Hopefully I can get copies of some of the records. I was happy to find some of the lesser known builders.

I have uncovered a lot of info on Rochester builders, Especially Elbridge and Trebert.

Thanks rgvrr for posting this site. As the current caretaker of a 4 cylinder Elbridge Featherweight, it is an interesting and historically validating site.
Thanks again,
Keith
