I would like some info. on a United States Marine Engine,Model OK-4,Serial 81799.It is a four-cycle,battery ignition, single cylinder engine. The ID plate on the gearbox states "United States Motors Corp.,Oshkosh,WI." Is there a relation to the Universal Motor Co.,also made in Oshkosh? Any assistance will be truly appreciated.

Mike,
Does it look something like this...?
US

I have seen quite a few of them. I think there is one at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michaels, MD. They are mentioned in the appendix of Stan Grayson's book:

Quote:

United States Motor Corp.
Oshkosh, WI
Trade name: US Falcon
Note: Formed in Sept. 1927 to take over Universal Products Co., makers of the Doman

I don't have any catalog info on them... anyone else that could help Mike...?

Andrew,it looks like I may not have the correct carburetor for my engine. The carb. on my engine appears to be a die-cast aluminum carb.Since I just aquired the engine only days ago, I haven't really had the chance to do much with it. It's stuck, so I'm soaking it with lots of Kroil!

Thanks again,
Mike

I have three of these engines. One marked Sears Motorgo indicating they sold it under their trade name. two Marked US Motors, Falcon. I have seen one with clearly an original name plate marked Bridgport. Why I don't know but apparently marketed by them under their name but again made by US Motors. That long exhaust pipe could easily crack the intake/ exhaust manifold.

Mike,
It is very difficult to put a value on those engines... much depends upon condition and completeness. Do a search of the board using the search world "value" with the keyword seach link on the left, and then read some of the discussion about engine values.
Hope that helps.
Regards,
Andrew
