I have a inherited a beauty of a Clae 4hp Bantam in reasonable condition that has a cracked aliminium piston no rings and poor health aliminium conrod, are these original or where they cast piston and conrod, and does anyone know where I may source these parts to continue my restoration of the motor.

There are a few different types of these loosely termed square and round which refers to the cylinder shape. They were either 3 or 4HP.

You can obtain rings for these but other parts generally not. There are still quite a few of these around so your best best may be to find another engine for parts. You could try advertising in the classifieds section of this site.

If you are able to post a picture I can provide you with more information on your engine.

Regards

New pistons and rings may be a standard size from something else, or can be made by JP Pistons in South Australia.
