Hi, I'm a Florida archaeologist and have a question for the single cylinder crowd. I have a boat and motor that has come to the surface and will be documenting it soon, but I need some help with the motor.
It is a flywheel single cylinder in the bow of a lake boat. It is similar to a Palmer or Gray (web sources I've used) and I have pictures but included only one to conform with the upload limit. I can email others or if you have some recommended favorite sites for research, let me know.
thanks for your input,
Patmotor

If you have a photo editting software package on your computer ( usually comes with the camera) , try to find the scaling function and reduce the scale from 100% to 25% and re-save the picture with another name ( I usually use the same name with a -1 at the end of it eg im234-1.jpg)
If your right click the picture and check the PROPERTIES it will tell you how big your file is.
THat way you can get your pictures onto the web site so we can help you.

ps - I don't think it is a Gray engine.

That's really neat Miro. I thought he was going to have to use electrolysis to remove the scale. The ability to use a PHOTO EDITING program to do the same thing has got to be so much easier. This should make it so much easier to identify the engine. Is there a particular program that works best? Thanks Miro.

Thanks for the info, I'm not on site yet and these images were supplied by a field agent. Once I've taken more photos, I'll repost. Are there any "a-ha" places for identifying the engine, i.e. anything that pegs it as one or the other-short of a nameplate?
