Bill, you will need a pump, a strap, and an eccentric-coupler. These are both 2 1/2 hp Lockwood Ash, use a two bolt pump. Art Dekalb has castings, the pumps are not cored, lots of machine work, but it can be done. It will add to the value of the motors.

Richard, I have a Motorgo like this, different tag. My engine has a Lunkenheimer mixer with a place for an oiler on the intake, about 1910 from what I've seen. The 1912 doesn't have the oiler port. I have an original drawing of the exhaust manifold, made one from a pipe nipple. It looks pretty good but I have since seen Audie Taquino's with an original manifold in poor shape, may have some cast in the future. On the Lockwoods the first digit of the serial # is for the hp, remaining numbers would be the production number, 2125 would be the 125th 2 hp. Don't know if Motorgo shared this numbering system.

Is there any real difference between this model of Sears MOTORGO and Lockwood Ash? My understanding of MOTORGO is it was a Sears label they tacked on all their marine engines they sold. Many were much earlier and different from the Lockwood Ash manufactured version. JB didn't Nadler go on making this model MOTORGO for Sears after LOCKWOOD ASH sold out to NADLER in the early 1920s? Is there any detectable difference between the MOTORGO, Nadler and Lockwood Ash engines other than the nameplate?

The tag on this engine says Lockwood-Ash Motorgo. That's the first time I've seen both names on one tag. These engines were almost identical other than the name. On the 4hp Motorgo the primer cup was in a different location for some reason. The engine in the above picture is an early production, it has a bolt on exhaust manifold, most were like the engines in the first pictures, exhaust threaded into the block. Nadler didn't produce engines for Sears. The only way I can tell a Nadler from an L-A without the tag is by the machine marks. Nadler machined most of the flat surfaces on a lathe with radial machine marks out from the center. L-A used a rotary cutter that left marks across the surface, like this (((((((. J.B. Castagnos

Danny, Sears sold a few different engines under the Motorgo name. Lockwood Ash manufactured most of them, does it look like the ones at the beginning of this post? I may be interested, can you send pictures? If you click on my name at the left you should get my address.
Thanks, J.B.
