Erd mfgd marine engines from late 1890's to 1929, they made several different designs and Horse powers. A few photos and a readable one of the tag would help date it.

I am from NZ and own a single cylinder 2 stroke marine engine that has no makers name plate fitted.
It has a Schabler type N carburetor and a poppet air valve is fitted in the inlet manifold.
The water pump is a M.I. Oberdorfer Brass Company pump and the ignition is magneto and spark plug.
The cylinder head is removable and the engine is possibly about 4 hp.
It has been suggested that it is an ERD?
Would very much appreciate any information at all as i cannot see a similar engine on this website.

PHOTOS ?

If trouble posting photos here, click my name at left and email to me, I'll post them and if engine was made in North America there is a good chance of naming it .

Tony,

Definitely matches a lot of the casting details of my 10hp twin. I will get out an old ERD catalog I have and see if I can shed any more light on your project.
