Hi guys. This is my first time on here so i'd like to take the opportunity and say g'day. I've been collecting old stationary farm engines for a while now but had the opportunity to purchase an old Blaxland engine yesterday. It's in poor condition i'm afraid but let's just say that i like the challenge !! The engine came in one box and all the parts came in another...what a job!! It's a single cylinder but has no identification plate etc. The bore is 3.25" but the outside water jacket is very badly cracked and pieces of it missing. Is there anywhere i can purchase spare parts and somewhere i can obtain a manual??
Because of my trade background, i enjoy rebuilding my old engines right back to original. If possible, i try to get them as close as i can to the original specs. Anyway guys, if anyone could help me out with parts, a manual or just information, i'd be eternally grateful!! Cheers...Dave.

Hi Dave,If you have not worked on salt water cooled motors before you will find this a special challenge .Do you want it to run ?
The salt corrodes the jacket and continues to work (rust)regardless of how you treat it.
Old pots are extremely hard to find and new ones are about $600 .
These single cylinder models were made in varying H.P s and could have forward or aft flywheels .
Facimile manual may be bought from duckflatboats.com in Sth Australia $13 plus $3 postage although there are a no. of copy sources .
I only restore marine engines for static display (not working ) so I do not have major problems .
I might add I do not have a Blaxland single (Pup). Help !
Also on this site there is a wealth of info under the specific heading 'Blaxland '

Hi Neil. Thanks for your information. The cost of a new cylinder may be out of my price range for this ol' girl so i'm not sure what i'll do with it at this stage. To be honest, i'm not even sure what model it is. It's a single cyl. with a 3.250" bore. There's no identification plate to make matters worse!! All the internal parts had been removed and were in a box when i bought it. The water pump is there as is most of the carby etc. The piston looks ok but the big end journal on the crank looks very rusty. It still has the gearing for the magneto but the magneto requires some work. Anyway, i'm not sure what i'll do with it at this stage...who knows!! Thanks for your help Neil...it's really appreciated!! Cheers...Dave.

Hello Dave
For your ref. the motor with a 3.25 " bore will be a Blaxland Pup 3.5 h.p. 2.5" stroke 900 rpm 11" flywheel and 10" 3 blade prop.
Used cylinders can still be found but difficult to do up.
Original price 114 pounds 8 shillings.
Neil
