Does anyone know of a good substitute for Tufnol water lubricated bearing material? I found a supply of Tufnol in the form of tubing designed for this purpose but it's a very loose fit on my new 7/8 inch shaft. I thought of using Delrin as it's easy to get, and machine, but I've been told it swells in water. Any ideas? |

My old twin screw bridge decker had bronze tailshafts and bronze bearings in the a brackets. Seawater was the only lubricant down there and is all went well for 30 years at a time by all accounts. |

Some of the graphite-filled polyimides will work quite well. I bekieve MSC carries this material. It was designed for so-called oilless bearings. |
