Some of you may remember this engine as it came from Dick Day. Charlie M purchased it after Calvert in 2013.
The engine has had all sorts of solvent/s poured in the cylinders for many years. It was just not going to come unstuck.
I took the aft cylinder off and thumped on the front piston with a piece of pipe. I thought it moved so I put a bar in the flywheel and it came free almost instantly. I put the aft cylinder in a press and pulling on the press jack handle with one finger it came free. Pushed it to the bottom and then pushed it out by hand. We aren't going to get to restoring this for a while so I put it back together today so the parts dont' get lost.
Pics with it apart and then back together. Yea I know one of the priming cups is wrong. Hey we had to see if it had compression in both cylinders. It does.
The last pic is the connection between the cylinders for water. Some sort of corregated rubber lined stainless steel???
There was no rust anywhere in this engine. It seems like what ever it had in it for oil glued the pistons to the cylinders. Everything internally is as clean as the crank journals.

Doesn't look as if the engine was run all that hard when it was working - piston looks pretty clean.

Pistons are cast iron
Restoration will be just clean and paint. Mechanically it looks perfect.
Does anyone have any idea what the original connector for water between the cylinders was?

Ernie,

I use a very heavy wall hose with two narrow width stainless hose clamps. Hose is 5/8 ID x 1"+ OD. This is available as A2 fuel hose, thus must be high quality if fuel rated.
