If I can get the images posted to the board I
will forward them, if you are interested in seeing
partial retoration of the Maynard - Adams.

Anyway, project is well underway. Should start reassembly shortly.

Best to all,

Randy Ridderbush

What is the diamond shaped opening on the cylinder just below the exhaust port?
(I bet you can almost hear it running!)

Tom:

The diamond is for a 1/2" square drive.
It appears to be a plug for the water jacket.

I started at the top of this thread and looked at the engine, my first thought was he had the intake and exhaust reversed, was probably running the engine backwards. Richard, your ad confirms my thoughts.

When I looked at this ad to post I noticed the intake to the front, the above engine was the only example to compare with, my initial thoughts were "Good Luck Starting It", You take it further with the mechanical possibility of its running backwards ! I've been aware for years now that your mechanical awareness is fueled with NITRO,
many of us are still running Low Lead !
Great Stuff Always Appreciate your input !

Ernie had a YT-1 that someone had set up like this, had the carb on the exhaust side, an arrow on the flywheel indicated opposite rotation. Jamie Hurry has it now, carb is on the correct side, still has the arrow on it.
