I spent this summer rebuilding a 1974 Alfa Romeo engine with excellent results. When I saw a "antique boat engine for free" I scooped it up.
This is what I know;
Palmer Model 27 (no "PW" anywhere)
173633 Cos Cob, Ct. on transmission plate
K277 on block
Magneto- Wicox Model X, Spec. XH 2693, Ser. 310861
Delco Dynostarter.

The engine is seized and after much soaking with PB Blaster and Marvel will not turn. So, I need to take the engine apart.

My first question is how is the rope pull attached to the crank end (threaded)? Second, any suggestion on getting the flywheel off?

The engine is complete. Just hope I can save her.

These are wonderful engines. I had one in my 1961 Polaris 26 sailboat and it was a joy to use. I loved the sound of the one lung engine at near idle.

I had a friend who had one in an Eddy and Duff Stonehorse sailboat as well.

Good luck with the rebuild.
