I'm having a problem with the water pump on a DuBrie 5HP, 4 cycle model AA, serial 1582 in-board engine. It's almost ready to run now, but the water pump has no suction at the inlet of the pump. My question is: Is there someone that would be willing to look at it and make repairs if necessary? I would pay all shipping and repair cost if someone is willing to look at it. The pump has 3/4" diameter plunger with a disc check valve. I have installed new teflon string packing, still no suction. Thanks. David |

Make sure the check valves are clean and sealing |

Dave their should be a ball check in the top of the pump |

Thanks guys for your comments. I have sent the pump to Jamie (primetrucks),he also said the pump should have a ball valve. I ordered a new brass swing ck. va. for the inlet side of the pump. Should the swing ck. va. be piped in a horizontal or vertical position or does it make any difference? The existing disc ck. va. apparently is not sealing very well. Thanks again, David |
