What a coincidence! A neighbor of Dr. George Q. Gilbert of Madison, CT. bought a house near him and in the attic the new owner found a large number of the orignal drawings of this famous artist. Name evades me at the moment. But his cartoons are really great. I am surprised someone has not published them as a collection.
Give us more Richard.

Sorry for poor quality, when they are reduced to fit here they lose definition!

The name on this one is " First Man to Reverse on the Spark"

Reverse

The last one is in "Westy's" Book. I have always liked it.

When ever I see that one I think of Sabino and George King. It is one of the really great ones. Another one I enjoy is the fellow with the sail boat and he has a blower hooked to his engine instead of a propellor. Now there was a real genius.

Michael send me an e-mail and I will give you the only lead I have. It all depends on whether the man that told me about the horde of cartoons in the attic may not be more than a great memory.. Have not heard from him in several years.

Checked further and the current owners of the cartoons are very much aware of their potential value and whether they will part with them is something that you will have to discuss with the individual the contact will put you in touch with. It is nice to know that the originals were preserved by the people that bought the house with them stored in the attic. One has to wonder how long they must have been there and why. All part of the chase I guess. Wish someone would publish the collection as they are Americana at its very best.
