Here is an Eclipse twin. It is quite a beast, at least to me. It has a 4 9/16" bore by 4 5/8" stroke. Just the flywheel weights in at 75#. It is actually in pretty decent shape where things matter. The intake valves are neat to me in that they are spring loaded flapper valves. There is a boss in the intake manifold that shows that they also had thought about using regular poppets instead. The bypass covers are castings with the flapper valve mounting boss so I think original to the engine. The oiler is a very nice Lavigne. One thing that amazes me is that the brass tops on the cylinders are nothing more than decorative caps. Seems like an awful lot of work for the function of the engine, but will make for nice accents. It is too bad the ID casting got so dinged up.

1899 Eclipse Motor & Boat Company of Mancelona was founded, 1903 name changed to Eclipse Motor Company.
1907 Eclipse advertised their multis in new design enblock engines.

Seems that would date this engine 1903-06 !

Nice old marine engine !
