Hi All,

I have a Chrysler ACE engine in my beautiful Halvorsen 26 Cruiser and I'm experiencing difficulty.
The engine starts fine and runs well, but! she doesn't like running at anything over 1000rpm. Take her up to 1200 or more and after an hour she will stop. The stopping manifests itself as a slight change of engine tone, loss of revs, as if we are running out of fuel and then nothing. The temperature guage (which is old and due for change) has shown no change up to this point but once the engine is stopped the temp goes off the scale. After about ten minutes rest the temp drops a bit and it will start again with no trouble and temp goes back to normal.
The engine is fresh water cooled with a header tank which we keep topped up.
The engine seems to be over heating and we are planning to put in extra ducting plus we are going to lag the exhaust.

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Mike

make certain the fuel cap or fuel tank are properly vented, Could also be a bad thermostat, but engine generally will run even hot till they self distruct. Maybe look at the fuel pump also

check you fuel pump, and filter. you can check them both if the filter is clear just make sure it has fuel in it. Also you might want to check the float level if this is not properly adjusted it will cause failure. also check the choke to make sure it is not stuck half way on I know this sounds crazy but it can happen best way to check is to unchoke the engenine and take off flame arrester and have a look.

If you have no fuel delivery proplems then check the ignition. If you have a manual just follow the instructions on how to trouble shoot they are very informative and most of the time you can find the problem if you just follow the directions.
