This and the Frisco had to be outdated in 1922, but I'd take either one of them. Seems by then closed crank and at least splash oiling would have been available.

Looks to be the same technology as the post above.

Stories i've read about this old heavy iron was that some of them ran for many many yrs and many thousand hrs wihout much problem- they sort of took on a practical as well as a mystical/superstious loyalty and I can see why change was eyed with skeptisism !

Maybe engines like these were whats in mind when referring to "The Good Old Days"
