I am looking at late 50's Chris Craft with these engines. What's the history and were they good relaible engines. They have been rebuilt with 200 hours. Thanks

Bill,
Most Chris-Craft flathead inline sixes were good power. The one thing they all have in common is cracking between the valve seats and cylinder bore. Whenever running hard always idle in to the pier and watch the temp. It will spike for a bit. Let it cool back to normal before shutting down.

At 404 cubic inches, it is a gas hog but a strong engine. A reliable engine and definitely pay attention to what DrRot said above!
