Universal / Hercules engine questions

Author Message   Darrell Dick Visitor Posted on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 - 11:42 am:        I've got a 1954 Universal Unimite 70hp engine and v drive transmission in my 1954 Marinette 28. The engine is seized and has had water in the crankcase. I know the Unimite is a Hercules XIB 4 cylinder. I have found a couple of Chris Craft Model K engines in running conditions. I know the K is a Hercules QX 6 cylinder. Does anyone know how difficult it would be to adapt the Chris Craft K to the Unimite v drive? Thanks! Has the engine been salt water used? If so, the type of cooling system may determine the practicality of rebuilding. Just some thougts to consider.
